The Laneway Cafe is looking for a full-time chef to join our team in Caringbah, NSW. This is a full-time position with a competitive award-based wage. We are a growing family owned and run company which will be adding a third venue in April. We are looking for a hardworking, friendly chef to join our talented kitchen team.
Roles and Responsibilities
You will be required to:
- Design and develop menus ensuring consistency and creativity.
- Standardize recipes for uniform quality and portion sizes.
- Manage and train your team, assist with rostering and duty allocation
- Oversee daily kitchen operations for efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain kitchen equipment, arranging for repairs or replacements where necessary.
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Gather and respond to customer feedback, making necessary adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor food and labour costs, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
- Develop long-term strategies for growth and expansion.
- Stay updated with industry trends and make relevant changes.
- Implement sustainable kitchen practices where appropriate,
such as reducing waste and sourcing local ingredients.
What we require from you
- At least 1 year of demonstrated experience as a chef, ideally within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work well under direction and as part of a team.
- Passion for creating delicious, high-quality food.
- Current food safety and hygiene certifications.
