About the Role
Bowen Rail are seeking applications for train drivers who are seeking CASUAL employment opportunities as a RO3 Local Train Driver or RO4 Mainline Train Driver with our Rail Operations Team based in Bowen, North Queensland.
Remuneration will be as per the Bowen Rail Company Traincrew Enterprise Agreement 2025.
As a Train Driver you will perform rail operations, safely, efficiently, and professionally to exceed all stakeholder expectations in line with Bowen Rail Company Values.
Our Rail Operations team is based at the Bowen Rail Provisioning Yard, 25 kms north of Bowen Queensland. This role is a residentially located role which requires you to be based within a safe distance from the Bowen Rail Provisioning Yard. It requires travelling to and from the mine and on some shifts staying at the camp, before returning to Bowen.
Safety Leadership: Set the standard for safety at Bowen Rail Company. Demonstrate visible safety leadership in line with the values.
- Drive train to operational requirements with due consideration of route conditions.
- Test train braking system and perform train inspections.
- Conduct train roll-by, general train and motive power unit inspections.
- Complete and process workplace documentation.
- Shunt, couple and uncouple rail vehicles.
- Identify,
diagnose and rectify minor faults on rolling stock.
- Report defects, hazards and incidents as per reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate awareness of rail operations in yards.
- Identify and respond to signals and trackside signs.
- Comply with Safety Management System policies and procedures.
- Apply fatigue management strategies.
- Adhere to Safeworking rules and regulations.

Essential
- Cert IV in Train Driving (TLI 42622 or equivalent)
- Ability to work to a 24/7 roster including weekends and public holidays
- Current Australian Unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence
- Ability to commute to Bowen Rail Sites
Desirable
- Experience with Heavy Haul Rail Operations
- Aurizon Newlands network route experience (RO4 Main Line Drivers)
- Previous experience with Electronically Controlled Pneumatic Braking
- Previous experience with Wired Distributed Power
