We’re now looking for a Fleet Allocator based in Port Melbourne, Victoria, to allocate work to a fleet of 50–60 drivers operating 2-tonne vans to 4.5 tonne trucks. About the Role
As a Fleet Allocator, you’ll coordinate and optimise the daily movements of our contract driver fleet, ensuring high service levels and operational efficiency. You’ll be the central point of contact between drivers, internal teams, and customers, ensuring seamless delivery of time-critical healthcare shipments and supporting positive patient outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Allocate jobs to a fleet of 50 -60 drivers using Smartways’ technology and communication tools.
- Coordinate driver schedules and assignments to meet delivery KPIs.
- Monitor driver GPS trackers and adjust allocations as needed to optimise performance.
- Communicate updates and resolve queries from internal teams, customers, and hospitals/clinics.
- Ensure collection and cut-off times for road and air linehauls are met daily.
- Assist with consolidation and de-consolidation of freight during peak periods.
- Evaluate next-day volumes and plan driver allocations accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Chain of Responsibility (CoR) laws.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years’ experience in fleet allocation or a similar logistics role (experience in a national courier or transport company preferred).
- Strong communication skills and a professional, pleasant phone manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate multiple stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent planning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Victoria, particularly Port Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working at pace.
- Understanding of Chain of Responsibility laws.
- Availability to work an afternoon shift from 11:00am - 7:00pm
