Crooked Drinks is on the look out for a Wine Retail Assistant to join our team in 2026.
The focus at Crooked Drinks is to showcase emerging and noteworthy producers, local or abroad, that are part of the new-wave of winemakers who are making juice outside (or in spite of) the traditionalist approach. This could be winemakers championing uncommon varieties, practicing regenerative farming, exploring different aging techniques or producing wines that defy regional regulations or typificity.
Most importantly, Crooked Drinks is a wine retail store grounded in hospitality values: intuitive service, engagement with our Collingwood community, treating people with kindness, and a sharp eye for detail.
In July 2025, Crooked Drinks introduced a small capacity on-premise offering which will be the next evolution of the business - and the new Wine Retail Assistant will be integral to its development. Just bottleshop prices, no stemware, no corkage, no small plates - grab a bottle and a seat, mínimal pomp.
What you’ll do:
Work alongside our Shop Manager to manage a highly rotated list of eclectic wines that fit within our ‘Crooked’ framework.
Manage the day-to-day operations with a keen attention to detail and warm hospitality - including our small on-premise offering.
Build strong relationships with winemakers/suppliers, our loyal Collingwood community and hand out treats to all the local doggos.
What we’re looking for:
Positive, passionate people > experience.
Passion for and knowledge of wine - whether its a developing knowledge or decades of experience
The ability to deliver thoughtful, intuitive and emotionally intelligent customer service and hospitality
The ability to flip a record while maintaining a conversation.
