Senior Medical Officer Part Time – 38 hours per fortnight

Fixed Term 15 / 12 / 2025 - 30 / 12 / 2027

An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Senior Medical Officer to join the medical team Portland District Health. The primary role is to provide high quality and comprehensive patient care to patients at Portland District Health in an efficient and effective manner. Provide advice and manage patients presenting at the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) of PDH at a senior clinician level. Provide support and education to the junior medical officers in emergency department.

About you

MBBS, or equivalent acceptable to AMC

Successful AMC completion or from a competent system

Experience / Registration in Australian Healthcare system or comparable system

Eligible for clear AHPRA registration (no notations - excluding provisional / limited)

Minimum ten years Clinical experience in the position of a HMO and Registrar or General Practice

Experience in self-management and organisation of work to achieve agreed outcomes.

Comprehensive knowledge regarding delivery of medical services at a Senior Medical Officer level.

Understanding of customer service for internal and external customers and a commitment to meeting their needs in a helpful and courteous manner

Awareness of medico-legal issues, clinical risk management, clinical governance and relevant legislation.

Ability to manage common medical and surgical clinical emergency presentations on the ward or in emergency department
