One PhD scholarship ($39,206 per year, 3.5 years duration) is available for an ARC funded project with research leader Dr. Nicole J. Rijs based at School of Chemistry, UNSW Sydney, Kensington Campus https://www.unsw.edu.au/staff/nicole-rijs .
Aiming to develop techniques for intercepting critical intermediates in molecular self-assembly reactions, the project will deploy combinatorial robotics, mass spectrometry and high-resolution ion-mobility spectrometry to structurally interrogate chemical reactions and molecular assemblies. Unique skills gained will include computational approaches, applied machine learning and advanced characterisation techniques which are highly sought after in industry. The project involves potential for international and interstate collaborations and travel,
and will be based in state-of-the-art purpose built laboratories opened in June 2019 (UNSW's Science and Engineering Building (SEB) precinct).
Applicants must possess an academic qualification equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with Honours or Masters in chemistry, or a related discipline (e.g. materials science, biochemistry, physics) to apply.
