The City of Nedlands is looking for a Senior Governance Officer to join our CEO Office. This key role strengthens governance, compliance, and risk management across the organisation. About the Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Governance, Legal and Risk, you’ll implement the Risk Management Framework, support compliance activities, and provide expert advice to staff and Elected Members. You’ll also assist with Council processes, elections, and initiatives that enhance transparency and accountability. This role suits someone who thrives on precision, collaboration, and making complex governance requirements clear and actionable.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Implement and maintain the Risk Management Framework, including monitoring and reporting.
- Provide governance support on compliance calendars, audit returns, delegations, policies, and local laws.
- Assist with the administration of local government elections and Council meeting processes.
- Prepare high-quality reports, correspondence, and facilitate training and awareness activities.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
What You’ll Bring
Must-haves:
- Strong experience implementing and improving organisational Risk Management Frameworks.
- Proven ability to deliver governance training and build organisational capability.
- Skilled in developing and reviewing policies, processes, and compliance tools.
- Excellent report writing and advisory skills.
- Experience supporting Council and Committee meetings, including agendas and minutes.
- Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 and governance best practice.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and solid organisational ability.
- Current National Police Certificate.
