Our client is a leading national firm with arguably the strongest employment practice in Sydney.
The Role
Demand for employment lawyers is high and this market leading employment practice is expanding their team. This role will see you work closely with 3 highly regarded partners in an exceptional team. This team advises on some of Australia's largest and most prominent employers, multi‑national corporates and state and federal government departments.
Responsibilities
Conduct internal workplace investigations (bullying, harassment, discrimination, general protections, misconduct), including planning, gathering evidence, interviewing, drafting reports, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.
Provide regulatory advice and assist clients in responding to investigations or enforcement actions by bodies such as WorkSafe, Fair Work Ombudsman, Comcare etc.
Advise on employee terminations, performance management, senior executive issues, restraint of trade, confidentiality obligations, and other employment contract disputes.
Draft policies,
workplace procedures, employment contracts and standardised documentation (e.g. codes of conduct, confidentiality / non‑compete / whistleblower policies).
Assist with governance related advice: directors’ obligations under workplace health & safety laws, workplace safety due diligence, regulatory risk management.
Support dispute resolution (including informal resolution, tribunal / commission proceedings).
Contribute to preventative workplace law strategies: training, client briefings, risk audits.
About You
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years PQE from a leading employment law team with:
Experience across both advisory and litigious workplace matters;
Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously under tight deadlines, with solid organisational skills.
Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.
Skilled in liaising with clients across public and private sectors, senior executives, boards, HR, compliance teams.
