McArthur is seeking an experienced Senior Policy Officer, to assist within the Policy and Research Division of our Federal Government client. Our client provides services that support both veterans and their surrounding families.

This position offers full time hours and is contracted until June 30th, 2026.

As a Senior Policy Officer, you will work to develop and implement policy relating to the health and well-being of the veteran community. This will also include;

- Provide advice on relevant policy issues.
- Draft ministerial and senior executive briefings, reports, Ministerial correspondence, meeting papers and discussion papers.
- Gather and analyse data and research to formulate and review technical advice in specific areas of policy.
- Review and update existing policy documentation and other information which supports the work of service delivery staff.
- Support the team with requests for information, administration, media monitoring and coordination.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to seek feedback on, or contributions to,



policy development projects.
- Prepare presentations and briefings to support SES attendance at internal and external stakeholder and governance committees
- Support DVA's response to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrated experience relevant to Policy or Communications in a Government setting.
- An ability to build relationships and collaborate with both internal & external stakeholders.
- Relevant qualification in Policy or Communications
- Currently hold a Baseline security Clearance (Desirable)
