About the Role
Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus as well as from Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Dame Edith Walker Hospitals. RPAH is one of Australia’s leading hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services. Its specialities include cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cancer, respiratory medicine, neurology, liver and kidney transplants.
The Peer Support Worker uses their lived experience of mental health in a purposeful way that provides hope for consumers, and practical strategies that support recovery.
This Role Will Support Consumers Across Four Main Areas
- Developing positive physical and mental health.
- Access to housing, employment and education.
- Re-discovering a sense of purpose and personal identity.
- Forming active connections to the community of the consumers' choice.
Ideal Candidate
- Personal experience of mental distress and demonstrated experience using recovery principles. A degree in a relevant field is required for payment at Graduate rate.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer led interventions.
- Understanding of and commitment to recovery oriented services and consumer involvement in service design, implementation and evaluation.
