Walkinshaw Group officially opens current $114 million headquarters in Southeast Melbourne

Automotive engineering company Walkinshaw Group has opened its new $114 million headquarters and expanded manufacturing facility in Dandenong South.

The remanufacturing business officially opened the site on Monday. According to the Victorian government, the opening has created 155 new local jobs across production, engineering and administration. The site includes what’s described as Australia’s most advanced automotive engineering centre, plus more than four production lines, and a renewable solar energy system to support future projects.

Walkinshaw specialises in vehicle enhancements and left-hand-drive to right-hand-drive conversions for international brands including General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen and Isuzu.

Walkinshaw Group CEO Ryan Walkinshaw said, “We truly believe in the strength of Australian manufacturing and engineering, especially here in Victoria,

and this should show everyone how committed we are for the long term.”

Construction on the new facility began in July 2024.

State industry minister Colin Brooks added that, “Victoria is Australia’s leading advanced manufacturing state, and this state-of-the-art facility is a testament to the strength and resilience of our automotive industry.”
