About the Service
The Occupational Therapy Service delivers care to patients, both children and adults, throughout hospital departments and in outpatient, community and rural settings. Occupational Therapists play a critical role in helping people of all ages overcome the effects of disability caused by illness, ageing or accident so that they can carry out everyday tasks and participate in life activities.
The community service is essential in the continuum of care for consumers and their carers, from discharge from acute care through to re‑establishment in the consumer’s residence or, if necessary, transition to residential care settings. The service comprises a range of outpatient healthcare activities focused on assessing, rehabilitating and maintaining individuals’ capacity to remain in their community.
The focus of this role is a community‑based service covering a range of clinical conditions and complexities, primarily for adults, including frail aged patients and their carers. Services encompass specialised and intensive rehabilitation,
low‑intensity rehabilitation, maintenance and basic support, delivered by a trans‑disciplinary team that includes medical, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, psychology, speech pathology, dietetics, specialist continence, healthcare assistants and personal care workers.
Key Qualifications
- Experience in community health, home visits, aged care services, rehabilitation and neurological caseloads is desirable but not essential.
