We have a leadership opportunity to join the Safe Communities team as Team Leader Local Laws - Animal Management on a permanent full-time basis.
About the Role
As Team Leader Local Laws – Animal Management, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the direction, culture and performance of the Animal Management team. This position is responsible for providing clear guidance and day-to-day support to officers, ensuring consistent, high-quality service to our community. The role also suits someone with an interest in best-practice animal management and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The successful applicant will:
- Lead the operations of the Animal Management team, including staff supervision, finance and corporate monitoring and reporting as required
- Establish systems, procedures and programs that will promote best practice.
- Provide leadership, support and guidance to Local Laws Officers – Animal Management in interpreting and applying relevant legislation.
- Provide advice and assistance to members of the community and general public in regard to policies and legislation governing the functions of the municipal laws section and to foster a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship using education, negotiation and consultation to resolve problems
You’ll need:
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to guide, support and develop a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Well-developed communication and decision-making skills, with the confidence to support officers through complex situations.
- An interest in animal management and a willingness to build your knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance processes.
- Certificate IV in Animal Control & Regulation is desirable but not essential.
Please Note – As part of this role you will be required to have the ability to work afterhours/on call shifts as required.
Successful applicants will be required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check. Working with Children's Check and undergo a Preemployment medical and hearing check.
