We're searching for a hands-on, energetic General Manager who thrives in a dynamic environment, values community connection, and loves the diversity of running a venue that's part local sanctuary, part bustling events destination. The Role
Reporting to a supportive (and highly invested) volunteer Board,
you'll be the operational heartbeat of the club. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role requiring someone who can balance governance, operations, financial performance, staff leadership, and a thriving visitor trade.
You will oversee:
- Operational Leadership – Lead FOH/BOH, staff rosters, inventory, compliance (liquor, food safety, WHS).
- Financial Management – Own the P&L;, budgets, stock, reporting, and commercial decision-making.
- Team Development – Recruit, train, motivate, and retain a high-performing seasonal and permanent team.
- Events & Community Activation – Drive functions, partnerships, marketing, and signature events such as ANZAC Day and City2Surf.
- Governance & Board Engagement – Work effectively with a diverse Board; ensure transparency, reporting, and alignment with Club governance.
- Venue Experience – Ensure every guest—members, families, tourists, and locals—feels welcome and leaves wanting to return.
This role is perfect for someone stepping up from a senior Operations Manager position or an experienced Club Manager seeking a venue with autonomy and heart.
About You
You're the kind of leader who lights up a venue—energetic, composed, community-minded, and commercially sharp.
You'll thrive here if you:
- Have 3+ years in a club, hospitality, or venue-management role (Club NSW experience is highly valued).
- Hands-on, not an office-bound delegator.
- Understand governance, board reporting, and operating within a cooperative model.
- Bring strong financial acumen—budgets, cash flow, P&L;, inventory, and wage control.
- Are confident with systems different systems: POS, Xero, Deputy etc
- Love building teams and fostering community.
- Have patience, resilience, and a collaborative spirit
- Are excited by operational variety—from large events to slow winter days to vibrant summer weekends.
This is not a Monday–Friday desk job. Weekend presence is expected—and rewarded with variety, recognition, and a sense of belonging.
