Performing Arts Course Coordinator
Reports to: Head of Fulltime

The Role
The Performing Arts Course Coordinator oversees the daily operations, delivery, and outcomes of the 1st Year Performing Arts Advanced Diploma. This role ensures consistent, high-quality teaching, strong staff management, and exceptional student support. It exists to uphold Brent Street’s cultural expectations, maintain program integrity, and lead the course with professionalism, clarity, and initiative. The coordinator works closely with the Head of Fulltime to deliver a seamless, industry-aligned, student-focused training experience.
Position Details
• Employment type: Full-time Monday–Friday
• Hours of work: 8:00am – 4:30pm, including approx. 10–16 teaching hours per week
• Additional evening/weekend work may be required for performances, events, and industry engagements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Staff Management
• Ensure Work Health & Safety protocols are adhered to across all teaching environments.
• Attend HOD and management meetings.
• Ensure staff uphold Brent Street’s professional appearance standards and Code of Conduct.
• Approve and sign staff timesheets.
• Role-model exceptional teaching practice and uphold consistent teaching standards.
• Regularly observe classes to monitor teaching quality and student progress.
• Address teaching concerns promptly and escalate ongoing issues where required.
• Source, onboard, and schedule high-quality teachers and industry-relevant training.
• Implement processes to gather and analyse industry feedback on student progress.
• Coordinate mock auditions and industry engagement opportunities.
• Develop frameworks that support student wellbeing (physical, emotional, educational).
• Collaborate with the Content Creator on social media and promotional content.
• Oversee timetabling, guest speakers, syllabus adherence, and Axcelerate assessments.
• Work with HODs to ensure consistent messaging, expectations, and standards across courses.
• Lead rehearsals and cleaning sessions when required.
• Mark RTO assessments in Axcelerate within one week of submission and meet all deadlines.
• Teach allocated classes across Fulltime courses and Brent Street Academy.
2. Customer Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for 1st Year PA students.
• Assist with conflict resolution or escalate where appropriate.
• Maintain consistent communication with students regarding assessments and course matters.
• Provide timely communication on weekdays, and when necessary, evenings/weekends.
• Hold meetings with students/parents as required.
• Support enrolment conversations with prospective students and families.
3. Student Management
• Prioritise student wellbeing and ensure all WH&S; expectations are met.
• Provide general support and counselling when appropriate.
• Build strong, professional rapport with students.
• Ensure rolls are marked correctly and absences reported daily.
• Identify patterns of absenteeism or welfare concerns and follow appropriate actions.
• Refer students to allied health professionals when needed.
• Support assessment, selection, and retention processes.
• Maintain consistent disciplinary standards and uphold studio rules.
• Complete all incident reporting as per Brent Street policy.
• Maintain full confidentiality per Code of Conduct.
Contribute to RPL development and assessment.
4. Teaching & Programming
• Ensure all VET units are effectively programmed, delivered, assessed, and recorded.
• Teach scheduled classes punctually and professionally.
• Fill in for teachers at short notice when required.
• Ensure compliance with the Student Code of Conduct and Staff Handbook.
• Monitor and report on student progress.
• Ensure content remains current, industry-relevant, and compliant.
• Monitor outcomes and adjust delivery to optimise learning.
• Model best-practice teaching methods.
• Mentor students to achieve excellence in technical ability, artistry, and qualified readiness.
5. Other Tasks
• Maintain an organised work calendar and workflow management system.
• Organise workshops, guest speakers, and specialty events.
• Prepare departmental reporting for the Head of Fulltime.
• Attend Fulltime audition days.
• Represent Brent Street at internal and external events.
