IPA has a strong history partnering with Local, State, and Federal Government and at present, our Government team is seeking experienced Scientific Assistants within the Sunshine Coast area.
As a Scientific Assistant, you will be interviewing recreational fishers at local boat ramps to collect research information about recreational fishing. You will also need to identify, count, and measure the fish that fishers catch for research purposes. It's important to note that you will not be enforcing fisheries regulations.
You will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Fish identification;
- Knowledge of recreational fishing;
- Ability to use phone and email communication;
- Must possess own vehicle and the vehicle must remain at the boat ramp for the duration of the shift.
- Good communication skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Reliability; and
- Work autonomously.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb in and out of boats if required; and
- May involve some heavy lifting at times.
You may perform up to six shifts a month, 4-hour shifts each, with extra shifts when staff are away. Shifts are done on both weekdays and weekends, during the morning, 9:00 AM -1:00 PM , or afternoons 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM . Full training will be provided to you.
You must be located in the Sunshine Coast Region, other locations will not be accepted at this time.
