We have an exciting 12 month fixed term opportunity for a Gynecology Oncology Fellow to join the Mater Team. This role will provide direct medical care of assigned patients under the supervision and guidance of a Consultant Medical Officer appointed to the Division of Surgical and Acute Care Stream.
Key responsibilities include
•Attend and assist with procedures and outpatient clinics and become competent in appropriate clinical and technical practice under the direction and supervision of consultants
•Attend and participate in clinical meetings and other relevant education and instruction arrangements that are undertaken by the Surgical and Acute Care Stream or provided by any other agency within or without the Mater Health Services complex and associated hospitals
•Participate in the registrar on-call roster for the Centre for Gynaecological Cancer
•Interview, examine and arrange appropriate investigations and treatment of assigned patients and to ensure that such actions are properly documented
•Arrange necessary investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment and discharge under the supervision of consultants
•Clearly document all findings, results and orders for patients in the medical record and to adequately identify such entries
•Ensure that all results of investigations when available are presented to the consultant at the earliest opportunity consistent with optimal patient care
•Have and maintain a good working knowledge of their patient's medical and social situation and to convey any significant information to the consultant at the earliest opportunity, consistent with optimal patient care Service and operational outcomes
•Re-assess the condition of assigned patients with appropriate regularity depending on their clinical condition. As a minimum all inpatients must be reviewed daily
•Ensure that discharge summaries and other correspondence are completed without delay and communication with other patient care practitioners and agencies is maintained as part of their obligation to complete all aspects of patient care and to ensure continuity of care by other teaching practitioners and agencies
•Clinical Fellows are expected to be punctual, polite and maintain a professional appearance.
•They must respect the dignity of their patients and fellow workers and the confidentiality of patients' medical information.
You will have up to date knowledge of clinical Gynaecological Oncology and the particular requirements of medicine at Clinical Fellow level are expected, coupled with Clinical skills and abilities consistent with the level of training in Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology according to years of experience in the specialty. Other skills and qualifications include:
•Experience in complex pelvic surgery
•Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions, with the Medical Board of Queensland
•Registration as a trainee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, (level V or above for Senior Registrar)
•In approved circumstances, eligibility for registration, with conditions, as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Queensland
•At least 2 years of post-graduate training in a recognised Gynaecologic Oncology subspecialty unit
•Prior experience in clinical research in this field
