As a member of the Infrastructure Team, the Network Engineer is responsible for the management of the organisations Network and security systems. This includes the design, planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance, support, optimisation and vulnerability management of all network, applications and security systems, working closely with the other IT Teams,

Audit and other corporate teams to ensure business continuity, governance and compliance for the business.


- Emerging technology monitoring: Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organisation, contributes to briefings of staff and management

- Information analysis: Independently validates internal and external information from multiple sources. Specifies and applies appropriate analytical techniques and reports results to clients and management

- Customer Service: Works with members of the business in helping resolve technical issues in a professional manner

- IT operations: Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Uses network management tools to determine network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work. Implements agreed network changes and maintenance routines. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. Provides reports and proposals for improvement to specialists, users and managers

- Security administration: Investigates identified security breaches in accordance with established procedures and recommends any required actions. Assists users in defining their access rights and privileges and administer logical access controls and security systems. Maintains security records and documentation

- Problem management: Ensures that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services. Ensures that such problems are fully documented within the relevant reporting system(s). Coordinates the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures. Analyses patterns and trends

- Change management: Assesses, analyses, develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change

- Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures

- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

Key Skills

- Strong technical knowledge of Network firewall, WAN / LAN, monitoring, management and acceleration

- Firewall management and monitoring with IPS and IDS experience

- Network access and vulnerability management & scanning

- Sound knowledge of cloud environments and security

- Strong skills with Palo AltoCisco SwitchingHP/Aruba SwitchingAruba Airwave & ClearPass RadiusInvestigatingreporting with a SIEM (Splunk)F5 - BigIPExcellent diagnostic and analytical ability with strong documentation skills.Previous work with the Australian Signals Directorate IRAP & ISO27001 Certification – desirable.

Required Experience

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large corporate ICT environment

- Familiar with multiple auditing disciplines, Project management and PMBOK guidelines – desirable.

Qualifications/Requirements - Mandatory

- Australian Citizenship due to contractual requirements

Our induction and training will provide you an understanding of these principles, including having an understanding of children’s developmental needs and culturally safe practices.

- Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.

Qualifications/Requirements – Preferred but not essential

- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline with a security focus, or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation

- Hold network and security qualifications highly regarded

- Current Driver’s License.
