This means a greater focus on prevention and early intervention, faster responses, more seamless operations, less duplication of effort and better outcomes.<br> <p><p>The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) was recently commissioned to establish an Aboriginal Family Support Service (AFSS) in rural and remote communities across Western and Far West NSW. The objective of the Aboriginal Family Support Service is to offer practical in-home supports with the aim of preventing family breakdowns and enabling Aboriginal children, young people and families to continue living together in their local communities and on country.<br> <p><p><strong>About the role<strong><br> <p><p>This role will have autonomy in developing Family plans in line with relevant policy and legislation. The Family Worker will also be responsible for:<p><ul> <li>Providing case management and case coordination by utilising available tools and resources to effectively identify and improve the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and families by ensuring they have a safe and secure environment where their family connections can be maintained.<li> <ul><ul> <li>Collating information to prepare recommendations, advice and reports to support effective monitoring and evaluation of program outcomes achieved through the case plan.<li> <li>Maintain regular, effective and meaningful contact with children and young people, families and <strong>key stakeholders.<strong><li> <ul><p> <p><p><strong>What we can offer youBenefits<strong><br> <p><ul> <li>Location: Dubbo and Orange<li> <li>ClerkGrade 36<li> <li>Salary range $72,418 pa - $94,327 pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.<li> <li>4 weeks annual leave per year of service<li> <li>Generous salary packaging options and other fringe benefits<li> <li>Flexible work practices<li> <li>Opportunities for learning and development and Internal career progression<li> <ul><p> <p><p><strong>Essential Requirements<strong><br> <p><ul> <li>Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (pursuant to Section 12 (d) of the Anti - discrimination Act)<li> <li>Relevant tertiary qualifications (minimum diploma) or minimum 2 years working in an equivalent position in the community sector.<li> <ul><ul> <li>Demonstrated coordination casework case management skills<li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children.<li> <li>Demonstrated experience working with birth families experiencing significant intergenerational trauma.<li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impact that Drugs & Alcohol, Mental health and Domestic Violence has on families.<li> <li>Experience working with children, adolescents, families and communities and the ability to build rapport and trust.<li> <li>Willingness to work across a broad geographical area to support families in all contracted region; inclusive of contact visits, meetings and home visits<li> <li>Experience in managing challenging situations within the strengths-based approach<li> <li>Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (Mon-Fri) and may include weekends on a fortnightly scheduled roster and work flexibly with the Family Coaches to meet family needs.<br> <li> <ul><p>The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 requires persons engaged in children related work to have Working with Children clearances. If successful in this role you will be required to provide a Working with Children Check clearance number prior to commencing in the role.
