Mandurah Catholic College is a K-12 Catholic school with approximately 1700 students. The College is located on a picturesque 12-hectare bushland site, situated 2 kilometers from the heart of Mandurah. The College is seeking two passionate and committed educational Middle Leaders,
who are highly knowledgeable in pedagogy and have the ability to develop a strong identity amongst students and staff belonging to year groups, in all facets of College life.
Commencing in 2021, this full-time appointment is a contracted position for a period of six years, with a process of appraisal in the third year of the contract. The successful candidate will have a teaching load commensurate with this position and the responsibility level associated with the role.
The Head of Year is responsible for the Pastoral and Academic overview of their respective Year group and are required to be empathetic with individuals and their problems, have the ability to listen and advise appropriately, apply fair disciplinary procedures, be consistent in their dealings with students and show initiative in providing genuine support and pastoral care. Our ideal candidate will possess the necessary confidence to delegate where appropriate and to empower others to respond effectively to situations concerning students under their care, especially classroom teachers. The ability to teach English is advantageous.
As a leader, the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who will promote collegiality and harmony amongst all members of staff. In addition, they must also be visionary and pro-active, responsive to the overarching vision and direction of the College.
The College offers excellent support to staff to enable them to develop their professional journey through the College Professional Growth Program. All staff are required to be involved in the pastoral care of our students and need to be able to demonstrate a commitment to the ideals and ethos of Catholic Education, as well as be willing to participate in the extra-curricular programs.
