About your role

This role is positioned within our Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) business unit. GTS is a prime contractor and system integrator delivering smarter and safer solutions across Australia’s public transport, rail and road networks. Our solutions focus on increasing train networks safety, capacity and reliability, improving passenger safety and security, integrating transport systems and maximising return on investment.

The purpose of this position is to primarily manage the support of the Rail signalling products business nationally and to favourably position Thales for future growth in Main Line and CBTC Signalling opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.

The Technical Sales and Support Engineer has the responsibility to:

- Provide technical support for existing customers and markets

- Provide training and type approval support for new markets

- Assist the Sales Director and Capture Team Leaders to achieve the annual budgeted revenue and gross margin targets for all Rail signalling products and related services by providing quotations to customers for rail signalling products.

- Position Thales and the Rail Signalling portfolio in order to maximise the revenue generated from all customers.

- Provide ongoing account management support for existing customers

- Grow the existing customer base within Australia

- Grow the existing products and introduce new products to the Australian market

- Be the key contributor in developing a comprehensive multi-year business plan for the Rail Signalling Products

- Develop Thales’ business through the identification, qualification and following-up of opportunities within Australia.

- Develop Thales position with key industrial partners and industry consultants to further promote the Thales Rail Signalling solutions for wider sales success

How about you?

- Have an existing customer relationship network within the Rail transport sector

- Professional experience in a Rail transportation organisation.

- Rail signalling product technical and sales experience of products such as Axle Counters and Train Protection & Warning System (TPWS)

- Demonstrated ability to develop Product Management strategies.

- Rail Signalling technical and sales experience with Main Line Computer Based Interlocking, CBTC technology and Rail Traffic Management Systems

- Applied knowledge and practice of the Miller Heiman strategic sales methodology

- Applied knowledge and practice of the Shipley Capture methodology
