About the role

Blackwater mine is an open cut coal mine located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, south of the town of Blackwater. The mine has one of the largest coal reserves in Australia which spans over 80km and has been operated for over 50 years.

Blackwater mine uses a combination of draglines, dozers, shovels, excavators and ultra-class trucks to remove over 200 million bank cubic metres of overburden each year. Coal is processed at the mine and railed to Gladstone where it is exported all over the world.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, you will use your strong technical skills and experience to work with a team of Dragline Engineers to produce schedules that will enable operations to deliver superior performance, develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders and to deliver safe and effective mine plans.

In this role you will:

- Prepare and execute dragline mine designs;

- Produce and maintain a rolling 16 week schedule;

- Ensure dragline compliance;

- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure forecast budget objectives are achieved;

- Develop and maintain relationships with offsite planning teams;

- Prepare strip reconciliations and share learnings within the business to continually improve the mine plan; and

- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with our operational teams.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education in Engineering and previous experience working at a large Coal Mining operation, particularly with draglines planning and scheduling.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of Vulcan, Deswik, XACT, 3D Dig and the Microsoft Office suite is essential.

The successful candidates will have options to choose from a range of company provided travel arrangements or can also select to live residential in the nearby town of Blackwater or Emerald with subsidised accommodation options as well.
