Essential Criteria:

- Ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships

- Ability to develop, execute and monitor sports based policies, procedures, systems and tools

- Experience working with and supporting volunteers

- Understanding of the Australian sport sector

- Exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail

- Excellent customer service and communication skills

- Ability to work autonomously and multi-task, supporting several projects at one time

- Ability to prioritise and organize individual workload and achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes

- High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

- Ability to support and promote the mission and values of Special Olympics Australia

Desirable Criteria:

- Understanding of and commitment to supporting people with an intellectual disability

- Understanding of the workings of not-for-profit and/or national disability organisations

- Valid First Aid qualification or the willingness to acquire one

Key Performance Area

- Assist in the development, monitoring and execution of policies and procedures on rules for participation and advancement

- Assist State Committees in developing annual sporting calendar

- Assist State and Clubs with volunteer & athlete requirements

- Assist with the identification and mitigation of risks associated with all program operations, including those relating to child safety

- Support the State Committee in achieving objectives

Key Tasks

- Communicate and educate stakeholders on revised policies and procedures

- Assist State Sports Coordinator to gather, compile and review sports calendars from Clubs

- Identify volunteer needs and recruit and train suitable candidates

- Provide leadership and direction to volunteer committees, creating a welcoming environment for new volunteers and athletes

- Assist clubs to achieve full accreditation status every two years

- Assist clubs with volunteer and athlete compliance

- Assist clubs with annual volunteer and athlete registrations

- Assist clubs in ensuring membership database within the State is updated

- Attend State meetings as required

- Work with key staff to meet Government and Community Grant obligations

Essential Requirements

- Drivers Licence

- Relevant Tertiary Qualification

- National Police Check

- Working with children check
