Rooty Hill High School is a large (enrolment 1120 students), 7-12 comprehensive secondary school in western Sydney . The school has a strong academic and vocational curriculum with a focus on the development of capabilities, student agency, expansive education, innovation and evidence informed practice. The school is staffed by a collaborative, cohesive team with a wide range of experience. Our students come from a range of backgrounds including 53% from language backgrounds other than English, 5% from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and 70% from families in the lowest 2 quartiles of FOEI. The school has a Reconciliation Action Plan, that is a living agreement with the community.
The school is also recognised as a high equity school – where students from all backgrounds are given the opportunity to do their best. In 2019, at External Validation, the school was recognised with an Excelling rating in all 14 elements of the School Excellence Framework. At Rooty Hill High School the Head Teacher Mathematics is responsible for leading the mathematics team, the supervision of staff delivering LOTE, engineering, and the maths in trades pathways in Stage 5 and 6, leading a professional learning and leadership cross-faculty team and working as a collaborative member of the school executive.

Expert knowledge of curriculum and assessment, with the ability to collaboratively design and deliver mathematics programs that address the needs and improve the progress and attainment of a culturally and linguistically diverse student population
Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills in working to build the capacity of a diverse mathematics faculty team, and each member of the team, to ensure high quality classroom practice.
Work as a member of the school’s executive to drive the new school improvement plan with a focus on improvement and innovation.
Engage the school community, community partners and strategic partners with innovative approaches to teach mathematics in both a face to face and blended learning environment.

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
