Position Information



Kempsey West Public School is located in a town of approximately 11,000 people on the NSW Mid North Coast. We are surrounded by the magnificent beaches of Crescent Head and South West Rocks, with easy access to the incredible hinterland on the upper reaches of the Macleay valley. There are 408 students enrolled at the school with 50% of these identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school has a strong commitment to literacy and numeracy outcomes (EAFS), and is currently re-shaping the way the entire school operates to create a dynamic, child focussed centre of excellence for learning.



Our current plan incorporates significant professional learning in L3,

Big Ideas in Number and investigates ways of blending sustainability and environmental education with cultural programs to promote student engagement.



Our wraparound staff support model includes 2.4 EFT Instructional Leaders, with a focus on developing reflective practice, supported by research based programs to successfully demonstrate and/or maintain teacher accreditation.



We are creating a culture where staff openly and positively collaborate to get what is best for our students. Kempsey West has a strong connection to the local community of schools and will be actively developing programs that focus on delivering cultural/environmental/resilience at the new Macleay Public Schools – Hickeys Creek Campus.





Selection Criteria



Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a range of support needs related to autism, intellectual disability, emotional and complex challenging behaviours including sensory needs K-6. Demonstrated quality classroom practice and highly developed management skills which enhance student engagement through enriched, differentiated and individualised learning programs.Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, support agencies and the wider community.Demonstrated ability to build and contribute to a positive school culture and school-wide wellbeing practices with a capacity to make a broader contribution to whole school extra-curricula activities.





Conditions



An unconditional full approval to teach is arequirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSWDepartment of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as youapply for this teaching opportunity.
