The Position

The Assistant Director, Intelligence will be responsible for:

• Developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive active detection function to identify incidences of suspected internal and external fraud, corruption and unauthorised access.

• Producing high quality assessments, briefings and reports used to inform and support reviews and investigations.

• Ensuring intelligence activities align with relevant legislative requirements and commonwealth best practice.

• Providing expertise in analysis and intelligence gathering for complex and sensitive matters.

• Identify and managing risks of exploitation of programs administered by the department.

• Synthesising complex information and data to present outcomes and findings in a meaningful and logical manner, including reports and intelligence products.

• Leading, coaching and mentoring staff.

• Performing quality assurance on fraud detection activities.

The position requires exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated experience working effectively across government.

The successful applicant:

• Will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with the department’s mission and business objectives.

• Can work under pressure to deliver outcomes within agreed time frames and a willingness to work collaboratively in order to build and maintain relationships with a network of stakeholders internally and externally

• Will have successfully been involved in or implemented an active detection program elsewhere.

Prior experience within an intelligence, fraud control or investigations environment is an essential requirement for this position. A Diploma or Certificate IV in Government – Fraud Control or a Diploma or Certificate IV in Government – Investigations is desirable.
