The opportunity





A growing and more interconnected human population, a changing climate,

and accelerating demand on natural resources such as land, energy and water are altering the planet's surface, creating diverse challenges that scientists and decision-makers are fighting to understand and address. Recent technologies have enabled consistent and continuous collection of ecological data at high resolutions across large spatial extents. The challenge remains,sho wever, to bring these data together and expose them to methods and digital tools that generate meaningful information about the environment, and lead to solutions to enviro-socio-economic problems. This is where the EcoCommons program comes in.





We are currently looking for an experienced Program Manager to drive the strategy, development and management of the EcoCommons program. This program aims to pave the way for paradigm-shifting breakthroughs by providing digital platforms for collaboration between researchers and decision-makers concerned with biodiversity including ecosystem services, biosecurity, natural resource management and climate-related impacts and responses.





This multi-institutional program includes partner organisations such as the Atlas of Living Australia ALA, CSIRO, the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network TERN, the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation QCIF, Macquarie University, University of New South Wales and the Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis among others. This program will employ 14 staff members distributed across these organisations.

. This is a fixed term until 2022, full time position based on either the Nathan or Gold Coast campus. There is the potential for extension pending funding. Griffith is a multi-campus university and therefore it is understood that this position will work across campuses as required.





About you





To be successful within this role you will be a highly energetic and self-motivated person who can work with the national science community to deliver on a large program of work. To achieve this you will have extensive experience working with distributed teams and strong people management skills, including advanced facilitation and consultation skills. Your demonstrated leadership skills will have resulted in the development of high performing, outcomes focussed, multi-disciplinary teams and you will have a track record of successfully engaging with research and government stakeholders to achieve results.





In addition, you will embody the principles and values that the University stand for and reflect fairness, ethics and professionalism at all times in the work that you do.





Salary range





HEW Level 10 $118,526 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution $138,676 per annum.
