The Bionics Institute is a world leader in the development of medical devices for the treatment of otherwise intractable conditions. The Bionics Institute is in an exciting phase, developing therapeutic technology to Parkinson's Disease, blindness, inflammatory bowel disease and hearing loss and unique methods for the improved diagnosis of epilepsy, movement disorders and deafness.





Reporting to the Information Technology Operations Manager, the IT Officer is responsible for responding to support / Helpdesk requests from research, administrative staff, students and visitors in a responsive and timely manner.







The IT Officer will work closely with the IT Operations Manager on a daily basis and will be required to report on a regular basis about operational issues and the status of support requests. The incumbent will also undertake specific IT projects as assigned by the IT Operations Manager.





Key Responsibilities





Provide 1st and 2nd level support remotely and in person across multiple sites.





Act as a first point of for support





Administration of user accounts and end-devices





Develop and maintain strong cohesive relationship with users





Identify and troubleshoot Network, IP-phone, Wi-Fi, Software and hardware problems





Escalate issues when required





Effectively manage and monitor Service desk queues





Effective reporting of service desk incidents





Help develop procedures and documentation





Support IT operation manager





The successful candidate will have;





At least 3 years IT support experience Level 1/2;





Excellent verbal and written communication skills;





Excellent customer service and problem solving skills with a high level of attention to detail;





Experience in the following VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, IP Telephony Avaya, Cisco switches and Networking, Servers and storage devices;





Experience supporting Microsoft Server products, Desktops and applications, Printers, backup and archiving software Veeam, Backup exec and enterprise vault;





Experience in face to face and remote support;





Computer deployment; and





Software installation;





Ideally the candidate will have industry certification but this is not essential.
