Your responsibilities will include:
With advanced knowledge of scheduling systems (P6, MS Project), related cost reporting systems, MS Excel, and ideally PowerBI, you will contribute towards creating plans and analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.
Support/lead the project control functions on a range of projects, with varying levels of complexity
Understand the importance of scope, cost and schedule change control
Prepare project reports including progress, financial and resource information, including actual costs, earned value, forecasts and performance against KPIs
Ensure all cost, schedule and risk project reporting and activities comply with company and client needs
Update cost control systems to reflect budgets, actual and forecast costs
Quality control of timesheet management for all staff/contractors on the project and liaising with project management to ensure that timesheets are accurate and addressing any issues as they arise
Review sub-consultant invoices and costs for appropriateness and recommend for payment
Collate, compile and issue project status information for weekly and monthly reporting
Maintain relationships with subcontractors and others on project control related activities
5+ years’ experience working on large projects within Australian based engineering firms
Experience working on large engineering project / alliances with multiple partners
Relevant tertiary qualifications relevant to Commercial Management and Project Controls
Advanced knowledge of P6
Working knowledge of other relevant software such as Power BI, Deltek, Lawson, Project wise, Prism, Sap, SQL PowerPoint
High level of proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint is mandatory
Great report writing with a high degree of accuracy
Understanding of EV and ability to apply within Engineering projects
Experience in Project Control systems reviews and needs analysis
Ability to understand complex contractual requirements
Proven experience in working to tight deadlines
Advanced communication skills and experience in external and internal stakeholder management
Great as part of a team and effective communication skills with a proactive nature regarding identifying and solving problems

Mott MacDonald are appointed as Delivery Partner by Urban Utilities for the Northern Zone Water Program covering regions north of the Brisbane River including Lockyer Valley, Somerset Council and Brisbane CBD. This is a 3-6 year panel for all water infrastructure work in the northern region and will offer us the opportunity to earn fees in the order of $2-3m per year. This program of work presents a model that will enable us to confidently grow our Water sector and represents a really important win for the QLD business (as well as Mott MacDonald in Australia more broadly) as it forms a strong basis for diversifying our offering in the State – an important part of the Mott MacDonald business strategy in Australia.
Mott MacDonald will deliver program management, project controls, design and supporting specialist services such as environmental, geotechnical and hydraulic analysis in an integrated team with construction partner Diona for UU’s water infrastructure including trunk and reticulation water mains, reservoirs and facilities. We will receive packages of work with a nominal 30% level of design and will need to agree a design and build price through an Early Contractor Involvement process, before we lead the design with Diona constructing.
