Your new role
Do you have passion to teach property students? Do you have industry and research experience you could bring to our Property Investment and Development major?
We are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching and Research Academic) to commence by January 2024 to join our property discipline. Our courses are accredited by both the Australian Property Institute and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and we bring property education excellence and industry experience into the classroom. With strong links with the local property industry, we are very successful in connecting students to industry and utilise our research to enrich the learning experience.
In this position,
you will make a significant contribution to teaching and research. You will support curriculum development and deliver high quality and innovative teaching in a range of property related areas to ensure that Curtin property students graduate with the knowledge and skills required for their future careers within the Property industry. Your research will make a difference and compliment our work in the areas of housing equality, affordability, supply and aspirations.
Job Responsibilities
The following are the duties that are expected of you:
- Deliver an exceptional student experience through innovative curriculum design and high quality teaching and learning.
- Conduct learning activities online, distributed or face-to-face as appropriate and develop learning materials in collaboration with other colleagues.
- Supervise honours, postgraduate and higher degree by research students.
- Contribute to the Discipline’s research profile by applying for research grants, delivering quality, impactful research outputs and collaborating with external stakeholders.
Essential Criteria
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated teaching skills and a reflective approach to teaching delivery.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
- Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination and manage teaching staff as appropriate.
- An established or emerging track record of quality research inputs (grants) and outputs (publications) relative to experience.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies,
procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
