Rockhampton is a large regional city with a population of approximately 80,000. Located on the Tropic of Capricorn it is only 40km from the beautiful Capricorn Coast towns of Yeppoon and Emu Park, and a short boat ride to beautiful Keppel Island. Rockhampton Base Hospital provides a large range of services including most specialties, a 24 hour emergency department and a raft of allied health services. It is supported by 2 large private hospital - the Mater Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital. As well has the public specialists the city is supported by a number of General surgeons, Orthopaedic surgeons, General Physicians, Cardiologists, Paediatricians, a renal physician and many others. Pathology services are provided by Sullivan Nicholaides,
QML and Queensland Health. There are 3 medical imaging firms: CQ Radiology, CQMI and Bolsover Radiology. Home Doctor Service provided after-hours bulk-billed home visits. Rockhampton has severals shopping centres, the largest being Stockland. Others include City Centre Plaza, Allenstown Square, Northside Plaza and Parkhurst Town Centre. Virgin Australia and Qantas operate approximately 12 flights (one hour duration) to Brisbane every day. Rockhampton has a number of highly regarded private schools, including Rockhampton Grammar School, The Cathedral College, Emmaus College and Heights College, as well as a number of public primary and schools. Rockhampton has a proud history of supporting the arts. The Pilbeam Theatre is home to many local and travelling productions.? All major religions (Catholic, protestant, Jewish, Muslim) are represented in Rockhampton. Sport plays a large part in the Rockhampton community and most sports including cricket, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, tennis, netball, touch football have active competitions. There are a number of gyms (some 24 hour) as well as cross-fit and running clubs. Practice information CQ Doctors is a group of 4 practices operating in Rockhampton. We have mixed billing and bulk billing doctors - it is usually left to the doctor's discretion. We are open Monday to Friday with one of the 4 practices opening Saturday morning. As all practices use the same database patients can visit any site and have their medical notes available. The practice is happy to support clinical interests of their practitioners and bringing your own special interest would be encouraged. All practices have excellent nursing support with a dedicated chronic disease nurse at each site. We are committed to medical education and all doctors meet once a week to discuss cases and listen to an educational presentation. We have GMT registrars and 4 of our doctors are supervisors. The practices provide their own after hours cover. You will be oncall for one week every 3 months but don't worry - you will rarely receive a call. Any fees from after hours call out are paid at 100% to the doctor. Candidate profile We are seeking a VR or Non-VR GP, or a GP registrar with GMT or ACRRM (IP).
