About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to provide and coordinate financial accounting and reporting of the Wholesale Markets including both underlying and non-underlying business performance.
The role is responsible for reviewing and reporting timely and accurate financial information, providing financial analysis against budget / forecast to ensure in-depth understanding of the business performance. This covers the transfer pricing revenue, market cost, generation revenue and costs, and all economically hedging contracts across all states as well as cashflow analysis. It also acts as a conduit in overseeing business systems from a Finance perspective and drive any process improvement initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
Deliver all derivative accounting and reporting in accordance with AGL accounting standards, including considerations and compliance with financial licensing and AGL risk policies
Provide detailed analysis on year on year movements on all fair value movements via Senior Management Representation Letter
Complete detailed disclosure packs and sensitivity analysis for the external market reporting
Work collaboratively with IT to drive Derivative Accounting system improvements to deliver automation to comply with external reporting requirements
Coordinate with wider AGL stakeholders, e.g, Tax, Business, Risk and Group, in providing accounting considerations and financial reporting implications on commercial transactions, managing stakeholder needs and ensuring issues are well understood both at the group and at each individual entity level
Develop models/improvements on bespoke contracts valuations in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and manage all audits in derivative accounting
Manage external audits and external regulators requests, including coordination with relevant internal stakeholders eg legal, FP&A; and provide relevant analysis where required
Continually review internal systems, automating and improving processes across Wholesale Markets FR&A; function, and instilling strong internal controls and governance in the team
Work collaboratively with FP&A; team to deliver timely, accurate, high quality financial and management reporting to ensure drivers of variances are fully understood for gross margin and cash flow
To be successful, you’ll have:
Experience with financial instruments in a large corporate
Demonstrate strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of Financial instruments and financial controls
Relevant accounting experience in Energy Industry
Advanced Excel skills a must and an exposure to macro and query language desirable
Proven problem solving and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organisational ability
Business acumen with a commercial awareness and sound understanding of commercial drivers and relationships
Ability to influence stakeholders of varying levels of seniority
Collaborative team player
Highly motivated, energetic, flexible, commercially focused with can-do attitude
