The National Faster Rail Agency (NFRA) is the Australian Government’s Executive Agency responsible for delivering a faster more efficient and reliable rail journey along strategic corridors that link our major capital cities and growing regional centres.The NFRA will explore opportunities for faster passenger rail links to promote the integrated development of Australia’s cities and regions by enabling services that improve access to employment, education, services,

affordable housing and lifestyle amenities.For further information on the Agency please seeProject Officer – the Business Cases and Projects team is responsible for the development of expert advice to support key faster rail business cases that will be considered in the context of the government’s wider infrastructure priorities and future budgets. You will work with industry stakeholders, Commonwealth and State and Territory agencies, and other experts to analyse and translate technical advice into policy briefing and development.This role includes conducting detailed project assessments, reviewing cost estimation, economic analysis, procurement options, financing and commercial considerations, major project implementation and risk analysis to inform the provision of advice to Government. You will have a good understanding of business cases and the ability to analyse technical information and translate key findings into clear and concise briefings to support decision makers.20-Year Investment Strategy for faster rail. This team will also provide support to the Expert Panel. You will be working with stakeholders across the three levels of government and experts in a variety of fields including, planning, demographics and rail networks and systems.The role requires research and analytical skills to synthesise information into targeted briefing material for the NFRA executive, Expert Panel and Minister’s Office. You will have good experience reviewing papers released by ‘thought leaders’ and using this and other information to shape strategic policy advice that contributes to and influences faster rail public policy.The role present an opportunity for experienced, high-performing and enthusiastic self-starters to join an Agency with a skilled and experienced team and to conduct high-profile work.We are encouraging applications from candidates that that may either have relevant private sector and / or government experience.To be successful in our complex and dynamic operating environment, you will also need the following skills and experience:Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills;Demonstrated experience working with a range of stakeholders and optimising results through effective planning and project management;The ability to apply good judgement to deliver timely results and follow through with priorities;The ability to adapt to change showing resilience and effectively managing ambiguity; andThe ability to apply evidence-based thinking based on your strong analytical, research and problem solving skills.Preference will be given for qualifications and/or significant relevant experience in the areas of transport infrastructure,Employment with the National Faster Rail Agency is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:Applications for this opportunity close at 11.59pm AEDT, Thursday 10 October 2019.In applying for this position, you are not required to address individual selection criteria.
