Longline fishing company working the East Australian Fishing Zone is seeking the following fulltime fishing crew positions. Ships Master, Ships Engineer, Master Fisher, Ships Officer, Deckhands & Fishing Hands.
Applicants MUST have a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years relevant line fishing experience (3 year’s experience fishing & deckhands only) with references. Where you are required to hold a licence or registration, you MUST hold the appropriate tickets or you will not be considered. All applicants must hold a valid First Aid Certificate.
Applicants will need to be physically fit as the position involves working on deck for long hours, sometimes in rough weather.
Applicants need to show good communication skills and be able to work well in a team environment but also be able to carry out tasks unsupervised when necessary. The job entails working away from home for long periods and usually involves a short turnaround before returning to sea.
The company maintains a strict drug & alcohol free workplace, where employees are subject to random drug & alcohol testing as a condition of employment.
A salary or percentage of catch rate as per industry standards will be negotiated according to qualifications, skills, experience and performance in the same or similar occupation.
An annual salary for full time employees for the relevant occupation will fall in the range of $53,900 to $60,000 for Deck and Fishing Hands, Ships Officers, $53,900 to $70,000. Ships Engineers and Master Fishers from $53,900 to $70,000 and for experienced Ships Masters a salary will be negotiated. As a general guide a base rate of $75,000 plus bonuses can bring the annual remuneration to in excess of $120,000.
