Digital Systems, the next phase of the More Trains, More Services program, will transform Sydney’s existing rail network, using world class technology to create high capacity turn up and go services to meet growing demand.



The Digital Systems program will replace legacy signalling and train control with modern, internationally proven, intelligent systems, based around ETCS Level 2 technology.

The Opportunity
We currently have opportunities for experienced Technical Managers to join our team in Digital Systems, leading the implementation and management of the technical aspects of our program delivery. You will play a key role in shaping this highly complex and transformative Program that will be rolled out over the next decade.


Stepping into this high level role, you will provide advice for the resolution of technical-related problems, implement lessons learned from other projects and manage all technical aspects of our program sourcing, managing and coordinating internal and external resources to meet project delivery requirements.

We are currently seeking technical leaders across the following 3 areas of our program:

1. Traffic Management Systems
To manage the technical scope, interfaces and risks associated with the deployment of a Traffic Management System for the Sydney Trains Rail Network, including the modification scope of existing systems (i.e. ATRICS, Timetables etc.) ensuring key dependencies to the TMS Supplier’s delivery and subsystem milestones are achieved to timeframes and budget.


2. On-board
Managing technical elements regarding Train-borne implementation of ETCS Level 2 and/or intelligent transport solutions for the passenger rolling stock fleets, track engineering vehicles, heritage trains and other rolling stock.

3. Trackside
Managing the technical elements related to deliverables for the design and construction of the new ETCS onsite signalling subsystem. This includes ensuring existing design and construction standards are followed and assisting in the development and application of new standards were agreed.

About you
We are looking for professionals with extensive experience in the preparation of tender documentation and tendering procedures. You pride yourself on having exceptional technical ability to effectively make decisions, conceptualise and solve technically complex problems in a confident and efficient manner

Most importantly, you are an influential and collaborative leader who has demonstrated experience leading integrated and multi-disciplinary technical teams, creating and maintaining a culture of trust and accountability. You will have extensive project delivery experience and proven track record managing technical teams in complex rail operational systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to process compliance, pre-empt and manage issues with a clear communication style and collaborative approach when working with key stakeholders.

Essential requirements


- Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
