Community Capital Coordinator

- Full time fixed term (18 months)
- $86,170 (Band 6)
- Assist with the delivery of community-initiated infrastructure projects and provide value to Shire communities

About the business:

The Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Building Management Team is responsible for the maintenance and renewal of all Shire owned buildings. Reporting to the Senior Project Coordinator, the Community Capital Coordinator is a key member of the Shire’s Buildings Management Team and is responsible for the coordination of the Shire’s Community Capital Program.

About the Role –

The Program is in place to assist community groups to deliver community initiated and funded projects which have been identified as providing high value to Shire communities, The Community Capital Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of key areas not limited to the following:

- Ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of Community Capital Projects through administration of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Community Capital process.
- Coordinating the delivery of Access Control and Security solutions for all new and renovated Shire buildings and be the senior administrator of the Shire’s Access Control systems.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

Community Capital Coordination

- Act as the Shire key point of contact for Community Capital requests and enquiries
- Provide education to Shire Staff and Mornington Peninsula Community Groups on the Shire’s Community Capital processes
- Plan annual delivery of Community Capital programmes including resourcing and provision of Shire capital
- Receive, document and complete initial feasibility assessment of Community Capital requests
- Schedule and book stakeholder consultation meetings
- Collate and review project compliance documentation
- Report periodically and as required on Community Capital investment and project delivery.

Building Access Control and Security Coordination

- Act as the key point of contact for Shire Staff, Community Groups and Security Consultants in the administration of access control and security systems
- Act as the interdepartmental conduit for assigning and registering user permissions for building access control
- Provide expert technical advice and training to Shire staff on access control system management (Access Control Administrators) and access control design (Project Coordinators and Managers)
- Assess building risk and usage to develop a prioritised list of access control and security upgrade projects.
- Develop business cases and capital funding requests where required to ensure funds are available to complete priority projects
- Assist Project Coordinators and Project Managers to scope and deliver access control and security projects on Shire buildings

Skills & Experience

- Knowledge of principles and practices of budgeting and financial procedures
- Project management or facilities management experience in a buildings related field
- High level presentation skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to prepare and deliver reports, briefings, submissions and relevant correspondence
- Tertiary qualifications (3 years’ experience) or trade level qualifications (7 years’ experience) in a relevant field or significant demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Experience in building Management, Maintenance or Project Delivery
- Experience in system administration and process management
- Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and maintaining relationships across a range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in relationship management
- Experience in organisational change and development
- An understanding of Council’s long-term infrastructure goals and relevant strategies, policies and projects of the wider organisation, desirable.
