The Greater Sydney Commission has identified Greater Parramatta as the “Central City” for the Greater Sydney Metropolitan Area. The City of Parramatta Local Government Area has been expanded through the Government’s amalgamation process to cover a number of new growth precincts. The area is currently experiencing a significant period of rapid growth and change and there are many exciting projects underway that will shape the City’s future. Council is focused on strengthening its capacity for strategic, pro-active, integrated and responsive management of its local area. To help respond to the period of rapid growth and change that we are currently experiencing,
we are seeking a competent officer to work as a Building Surveyor on a large variety of fire safety compliance projects within Sydney’s second CBD.
About the person
This exciting role within the City of Parramatta’s Health and Building team will provide the successful candidate with experience across a broad range of existing building types and uses. Duties will include developing fire safety strategies for existing buildings, the evaluation of fire safety assessment reports, as well as attendance at associated meetings and site reviews. The successful candidate will primarily focus on fire safety compliance type work including the assessment of external cladding to facades of existing buildings. Applicants will require appropriate tertiary qualifications in Building, Engineering and or Building Science, have proven field experience in fire safety projects, and the ability to work collaboratively, autonomously and with highly effective relationship skills.
