Your new company
Client is major State Government department based in Brisbane's inner south. As result of a major busy year ahead, they are looking to engage an experienced procurement or purchasing professional to join their team initially on a 6-month contract duration.
Your new role
The role is working as part of a specialist procurement function that supports the capital works program for the State Government.
This department essentially acts as an in-house consultancy service to the rest of the business unit providing very specialist advice on series of procurement and contractual issues to Project Managers, Contract Administrators and other professionals who already have a very good baseline knowledge of the subject matter. The role is an interesting and challenging one. It offers a good balance of technical know-how; especially around Construction and Engineering as well as enough stakeholder engagement work if enjoy the challenge of dealing with senior people to elicit key information from project teams to help protect governments position and avoid grey areas.
What you'll need to succeed
Candidates need to have a good degree of specialist knowledge working as a genuine procurement professional as opposed to a generalist with some procurement experience. If candidates had some subject matter experience of working within the building or maintenance industry for main contractor or similar asset owner that would be looked upon favourably too. With the role being State Government and subject to particular governance frameworks (QITC / GITC). Experience with those would be looked upon favourably as would allow the candidate to get up to speed as quickly as possible and add value to the department. Level 1 or 2 QLD government procurement qualification would be also be a plus to demonstrate the above. Lastly this role must do a lot of inter departmental communication, therefore high-quality stakeholder communication skills are essential.

They are offering asap start with a 6-month contract duration based in inner south of Brisbane at Cannon Hill (Close to train station or ample parking on site). Ideally candidates would be at A04 level so pay rate at $45.09 per hour. Client would potentially look at more senior level (A05 @$52.25 if candidates had demonstrated experience at a higher level).
