Research and Policy Officer

About us

The Commissioner for Residential Tenancies champions the rights of Victorian renters. As a strategic advocate, the Commissioner consults widely with tenant and consumer advocacy groups across the rental sector to identify systemic issues, and to act as the voice of tenants in addressing these issues.

The Office of the Commissioner for Residential Tenancies (OCRT) is a recently established business unit within the Department of Justice and Regulation that supports this work.

About the role

As a member of a small team, the Research and Policy Officer will provide well developed policy, research and organisational skills that will support the development of solutions to tenancy issues. In this role,





you will:

- Act as the first point of contact for the Office of the Commissioner for Residential Tenancies and coordinate a range of activities ensuring efficient office operation
- Undertake research and analysis of residential tenancy issues and provide advice to the Commissioner for Residential Tenancies on issues affecting renters
- Contribute to the development of strategies to implement policy initiatives.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Knowledge and understanding of residential tenancy and housing issues
- Expertise in policy development, research and review, formulation and implementation
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification(s) would be highly regarded.
