This is an exciting prospect to work in one of Australia's most successful biosecurity programs. The Wet Tropics Management Authority welcomes applications for a Senior Technical Officer (Drone Operations and Field Delivery) to join the Yellow Ant Eradication Program's operational team. The successful applicant will be self-motivated enthusiastic individual who is driven to contribute to the protection and management of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.

You will play a key role in the planning and delivering drone-based treatment and survellance activities, while also coordinating field operations.

Your contribution as Senior Technical Officer will will require you to:

- Lead and coordinate drone operations and field delivery activities that support the surveillance, treatment, monitoring and eradication objectives of the Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program.
- Provide specialist technical advice on remotely piloted aircraft systems, aerial application technologies and operational delivery practices.
- Contribute to the planning, implementation and continuous improvement of operational programs, procedures and work practices.




- Supervise, mentor and support operational staff.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with landholders, Traditional Owners, Indigenous Rangers, contractors and other stakeholders to achieve program outcomes.
- Monitor operational performance, manage resources and contribute to reporting, compliance and the achievement of program objectives.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who has a stong knowledge of drone operations, aviation compliance requirements and aerial application practices relevant to operational environments and holds a current:

- Hold a current unrestricted driver's licence or be able to obtain one.
- Hold a Pilot Chemical Rating Licence (Queensland).
- Hold a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) appropriate to the aircraft and operations required for the role.
- Hold an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) or equivalent.

Applications will remain current for 12 months.
