Snowflake Platform Engineer

Initial 4-month contract | High likelihood of extension | Up to $750/day inc. super

An opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Snowflake Platform Engineer to join a leading Australian financial services organisation. This role will focus on the engineering, development and optimisation of an enterprise Snowflake platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, automated and fit for evolving business requirements. You'll work closely with data engineering, cloud and architecture teams, taking ownership of platform engineering initiatives and driving improvements across the Snowflake ecosystem.

The Role

- Engineer, develop and enhance enterprise Snowflake platform capabilities.
- Design and implement scalable Snowflake environments and platform architecture.
- Build automation and CI/CD pipelines to streamline platform deployments and configuration management.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions to support repeatable, consistent platform provisioning.
- Engineer and optimise virtual warehouse architecture, workload management and resource utilisation.
- Implement platform security frameworks, including RBAC, authentication, access controls and security integrations.
- Drive platform performance optimisation, scalability and cost efficiency.




- Establish monitoring, observability and automated processes to improve platform reliability.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform architecture, engineering standards and operational maturity.
- Collaborate with cloud, data and architecture teams to deliver enterprise platform improvements.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Snowflake Platform Engineer with a strong background in building, engineering and optimising enterprise data platforms.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- Solid hands-on Snowflake platform engineering experience.
- Experience designing and implementing Snowflake platform architecture and environments.
- Strong understanding of virtual warehouses, workload management and platform performance.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform.
- Strong CI/CD and deployment automation experience.
- Knowledge of Snowflake security architecture, RBAC, authentication and access management.
- Experience with cloud platforms, ideally Azure or AWS.
- A strong engineering mindset, with the ability to identify and implement improvements across complex enterprise environments.
