Description
Build your career in technology with Calexi
Are you the person friends and family turn to when something technical stops working? Do you enjoy figuring out how things work, solving problems or learning new technologies?
You might be studying IT, networking, cyber security, software development or engineering. Perhaps you're preparing to start university, building your own projects or simply looking for an opportunity to turn your interest in technology into a career.
We're more interested in your curiosity, attitude and willingness to learn than your qualifications or experience.
Calexi is a growing, Canberra-based technology and cyber security company. We work with Australian businesses, Defence industry organisations and government clients to solve real technology challenges.
We're looking for someone to join our team as a Junior IT Support Technician.
This is an opportunity to learn alongside experienced professionals, develop practical technical skills and contribute to meaningful work from the beginning.
What you'll be doing
You'll work alongside our technical team to support clients and maintain their technology environments.
Your responsibilities will develop as your skills and confidence grow and may include:
- Helping users resolve everyday computer, software and connectivity problems
- Preparing, configuring and deploying laptops and workstations
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows and cloud-based services
- Assisting with network equipment, servers and IT infrastructure
- Learning how cyber security controls protect businesses and their information
- Monitoring systems, investigating alerts and assisting with routine maintenance
- Documenting technical work and contributing to our internal knowledge base
- Participating in internal technology projects and improvement initiatives
You won't be expected to know how to do everything when you start.
We'll provide training, guidance and support as you develop your capabilities.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys technology and wants to build a career in the industry.
You might be a great fit if you:
- Enjoy understanding how technology works and solving problems
- Are curious, thoughtful and willing to ask questions
- Take pride in doing things properly
- Can communicate clearly and respectfully with others
- Are comfortable learning new skills and accepting feedback
- Take responsibility for your work and follow through on commitments
- Enjoy contributing to a team and helping others succeed
- Enjoy working and interacting with other people
You don't need skilled IT experience, industry certifications or a university degree.
We welcome applications from people studying or planning to study information technology, computer science, networking, software engineering, cyber security or related disciplines.
We also recognise that technical skills can develop outside formal education. Personal projects, home labs, programming, gaming communities, volunteering and independent learning can all demonstrate genuine technical interest.
What you'll learn
Depending on your interests and development, you'll have opportunities to gain practical experience across:
- Microsoft 365, Azure and cloud technologies
- Windows administration and endpoint management
- Networking, servers and virtualisation
- Cyber security operations and threat detection
- Identity and access management
- Automation, scripting and software development
- IT service management and professional client support
We want you to understand not just how to perform a task, but why it matters.
As Calexi grows, there will be opportunities to explore different technical disciplines and develop a career aligned with your interests and strengths.
Real experience from day one
You'll contribute to genuine client environments and technology projects, with appropriate supervision and support.
