Job Description

Globalstars Trading Pty Ltd, trading as St Marys Fish Market & Jayam Supermarket, is an established business operating a Fish Market Shop and a Supermarket Store in St Marys, NSW. We are currently seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and motivated Full-Time Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Fish Market Shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing retail operations, supervising staff, maintaining seafood quality and freshness, controlling inventory and ensuring high standards of customer service.

- Shop Operations: Plan, organise, manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Fish Market Shop to ensure efficient and profitable business operations.
- Stock Management: Manage the purchasing, ordering, receiving and stocking of fresh fish, seafood and related products, ensuring adequate inventory levels and product availability.
- Seafood Quality Control: Monitor seafood freshness, quality, storage temperatures and stock rotation to minimise wastage and maintain appropriate food safety standards.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, supervise and roster shop staff, allocate daily responsibilities and monitor staff performance to maintain operational efficiency.
- Sales and Profitability: Monitor daily sales, operating expenses, product pricing and profit margins, and implement strategies to improve sales performance and profitability.
- Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service, respond to customer enquiries, resolve complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Merchandising and Promotions: Organise seafood displays,



determine product presentation standards, coordinate promotional activities and implement effective retail merchandising strategies.
- Compliance and Administration: Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements, while overseeing cash handling, sales reconciliation, supplier coordination and daily operational reporting.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Shop Manager or Retail Store Manager in a similar business setting, preferably a Fish Market, Seafood Retail Shop or Supermarket.
- Sound knowledge of fish and seafood products, including different seafood varieties, freshness assessment, quality standards, handling, storage and stock rotation.
- Practical understanding of fish market operations, seafood purchasing, inventory management and retail sales.
- Solid leadership and supervisory skills, including experience in staff rostering, training and performance management.
- Good understanding of retail pricing, sales targets, cost control and profit margins.
- Excellent communication, customer service, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a busy retail environment.
- Relevant qualifications in Retail Management, Business Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
