Precast concrete has been made the same way for decades: manual, slow and labour-intensive. Onyx changes that.
Onyx is our robotic precast manufacturing system. Multiple industrial robot arms, nearly a dozen custom end effectors, AGVs and our own control software work together to produce dozens of large precast elements a day, up to 12 tonnes each, with near-full automation. We built it on the NSW Central Coast, and it’s being commercialised now to supply worldwide.
The state of the system
10 tools all integrated and working, many tools going through significant upgrades
Our first customer has signed and goes live from Q1 2027.
Customers pay per use, so every hour of uptime counts. Trust and reliability is the product.
Our new automated precast factory at Jilliby is coming online alongside our Wyong site and will represent the future of the industry.
The robotics are the heart of the system. We want someone who will own them, along with the moving parts and controls around them.
What you’ll do
- Own the robotics. Lead the design, tuning and industrialisation of every robotic cell, end effector and tool, from working prototype to production-hardened.
- Make the moving parts work as one. Integrate the robot arms, AGVs, PLC subsystems, sensors and motion control into one coordinated production line.
- Integrate the AGV fleet to Australian Standards and best practice. Integrate and commission the AGVs into the production flow, including routing, handover points and safety.
- Build the plant’s control and visibility layer. Design and integrate SCADA for monitoring,
control and data capture across the plant. Network all controls components for ease of remote diagnostics.
- Co-design heavy automation. Work with our structural and mechanical teams and outside fabricators on a 15-tonne automated vertical storage and lifting system.
- Make it faster, cheaper and more reliable. Value-engineer cycle time, uptime, cost and serviceability.
- Commission it on site. Help bring Onyx online at our first customer’s site which means up to 30 nights away from home during 2027.
- Be the technical authority as Onyx scales from its first install to multiple customer sites.
You’ll work directly with our in‑house engineers, our automation partner and the CEO, who writes the software. Decisions are made in a conversation, not a committee and every opinion counts for a lot.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years in automation, mechatronics or electrical engineering, ideally in manufacturing or materials handling
- Hands‑on PLC integration and commissioning
- SCADA and Network design and integration
- Experience with industrial robots, AGVs or AMRs (autonomous mobile robots), motion control or sensor-heavy systems is a big plus
- A value‑engineering mindset: you look for the easy, reliable answer before the clever one
- Comfort moving between the workshop floor, the control panel and CAD in the same day
- Full Australian working rights
Your work carries real impact.
The timing is right.
Real ownership.
Meaningful impact.
