This service provides comfortable, convenient and affordable public transport for residents and visitors wishing to travel to larger regions of Bundaberg and Maryborough. About the role Council is seeking motivated and community-minded individual to join the North Burnett Transport Service (NBTS) team. This role is well suited to an individual who enjoys driving long distances, engaging with residents and visitors and contributing to the local community. As a valuable member of our team, you will play a vital role in connecting North Burnett residents to Bundaberg, Childers, Gin Gin and Maryborough with convenient stops encompassing hospitals, train stations, and local shopping centres whilst also providing a public transport option for tourists and workers wishing to travel to our region. You will be responsible for the safe and reliable transport of passengers while delivering courteous and professional customer service. You will operate Council buses on scheduled routes, assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, and ensure bus fleet is compliant, clean, and well maintained. This role is essential in supporting continuity of service by covering both planned and unplanned leave.

About you

We are seeking a confident, safety-conscious bus driver who takes pride in delivering a high standard of service. You will demonstrate reliability, be community-minded,



and be able to work independently while maintaining a professional and approachable manner.

- A current LR class driver’s licence and Queensland Driver Authorisation (or are eligible to obtain)
- Previous experience operating buses or coaches
- A strong commitment to safety and customer service along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work, with availability between Tuesday and Friday, and occasional weekend or short notice work as required.
- The ability to follow procedures accurately, complete records, and support Council’s safety and compliance requirements.
- Current First Aid and CPR qualification
- Demonstrated absence of a relevant criminal history.
- The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, to confirm fitness to safely perform the role.

Position Details

S alary Range: QLGIA (Stream B, Level A1-A6) – $31.68 – $33.16 an hour + 12% Superannuation

Work type: Part time, Fixed term (commencing as soon as possible until 31 December 2027 )

Location: Mundubbera

Schedule: 40 hours per fortnight plus up to 6 hours overtime. Bus shifts generally range from 10 hours to 12 hours depending on the day and bus route.
