Run the state. Own the numbers. Build the team.
We're looking for a State Manager to lead our NSW branch. It's a senior role with full accountability for the NSW business: winning the right work, delivering it well, and building the team that does both.
You'll report to senior leadership and have real autonomy over how the state is run. If you're already running a branch or division for a subcontractor and want a bigger say in where the business goes, this is worth a conversation.
The business
We're a specialist trade contractor working across several states. We subcontract to many of the country's leading builders on commercial and multi-residential projects, and we've been doing it long enough to have the systems, relationships and financial stability that let a State Manager focus on running the business.
Where you'll focus
Commercial
- Own the NSW P&L;, revenue and margin against budget
- Set the state sales strategy and build a strong tender pipeline with leading builders
- Lead pricing, procurement and subcontract negotiations to protect margin
- Report clearly and regularly to the leadership team
People
- Lead, coach and grow a team across sales, site supervision and warehouse
- Set KPIs, hold the team to them and recognise good performance
- Build and manage a reliable subcontractor network
Delivery and safety
- Make sure projects finish on programme, on budget and to standard
- Run day-to-day branch operations,
including logistics, property and facilities
- Set the standard on WHS for staff and subcontractors on every site
- Look after builder relationships through to completion and warranty
What you'll bring
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role with a specialist subcontractor or trade contracting business
- Accountability for a P&L;, budget or branch result, with a track record of growing revenue and protecting margin
- Solid grasp of the subcontractor side of the industry: tendering, subcontract terms, variations and claims
- Experience leading a mixed team across sales, site and operations, plus managing subcontractors
- A strong safety mindset and working knowledge of WHS obligations on commercial sites
- Current driver's licence
Highly regarded
- Qualification in building and construction or a related field
- Background in a finishes trade
- ERP experience and robust Microsoft Office skills
What's on offer
- $130,000 to $150,000 base + super + vehicle allowance + mobile phone
- Genuine autonomy and a direct voice into the leadership team
- A stable, established business with a robust reputation among builders
- A capable team in place to lead and develop
Applying
You must have the right to work in Australia.
We're committed to a fair and inclusive recruitment process and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you need any adjustments to take part, just let us know.
