HSE Advisor role at a glance

- $90 – $95 per hour plus penalties depending on experience, plus superannuation
- 11.5 hours per day + 30 minutes travel
- DIDO on a 2/1 roster - 2 hours Southeast of Perth
- Initially to Christmas but ongoing work for the right candidate
- Reporting to the Project Manager

About the role You’ll provide practical health, safety and environmental support to site teams. You’ll work closely with supervisors, crews and subcontractors on high-risk civil and structural activities, including formwork, crane lifts and large concrete pours. You’ll make sure work is planned and carried out safely and in line with legislation, client requirements and the company’s HSE management system.

Our client wants someone who is visible in the field, builds trust with frontline teams and influences a strong safety culture through coaching rather than policing.

Key responsibilities

- Promote and lead a robust safety-first culture across all project activities
- Provide day-to-day HSE advice and support to supervisors, crews and subcontractors
- Review and help develop SWMS, JSEAs, risk assessments, permits to work and lift plans
- Support the planning of high-risk activities, including formwork, gantry pours, crane lifts, excavations, confined spaces and working at heights
- Carry out site inspections, audits and observations, and track corrective actions to close-out
- Lead or support incident investigations (e.g. ICAM) and report findings
- Facilitate pre-starts, toolbox talks and HSE committee meetings
- Deliver site inductions, HSE training and coaching
- Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and compliance




- Support the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), including dust, noise, erosion and sediment control, waste, clearing and heritage requirements
- Coordinate injury management and return-to-work processes where required
- Maintain accurate HSE records, registers, statistics and reporting
- Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA), associated regulations and client requirements

About you

- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor on civil construction, utilities or infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge of WA WHS legislation and construction compliance
- Experience supporting high-risk activities such as formwork, concrete pours, lifting operations and excavations
- Experience in incident investigation, auditing and risk management
- Working knowledge of construction environmental management
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 aligned management systems
- Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Confident engaging with crews in the field and with senior management

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Construction Induction (White Card)
- Current C class driver’s licence
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009)
- Work Safely at Heights
- Confined Space Entry
- Gas Test Atmospheres
- WA Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training (5-day course)
- Incident investigation training

Tickets and licences – desirable

- Diploma or degree in WHS, OHS or environmental science
- Lead Auditor certification (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001)
- Mental Health First Aid
- Fire Warden / Fire Extinguisher training
- Issue Work Permits
- Traffic management (Basic Worksite Traffic Management)
- Spill response / environmental incident training

- National Police Clearance
