Role overview

We’re looking for a reliable, energetic Kitchen Hand to support our high tea/afternoon tea service. This is a hands-on role assisting Kitchen Prep and front-of-house staff to ensure food is prepared, plated, and presented to our standards, and that the kitchen and service areas are clean, organised and ready for each sitting.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Assist with preparation of sandwiches, scones, pastries and garnishes for high tea service
- Plate and assemble afternoon tea tiers and individual items to presentation standards
- Wash, sanitise and store dishes, glassware, and utensils; maintain dishwashing area
- Clean and sanitise work surfaces, equipment and floors following health & safety procedures
- Restock prep stations, equipment and service items between seatings
- Receive and rotate stock, check expiry dates and label items as required
- Dispose of waste according to site procedures and maintain recycling practices
- Support front-of-house by clearing and resetting service areas when needed
- Follow food safety, hygiene and allergy procedures at all times
- Report equipment faults, inventory shortages or hazards to supervisor

Requirements




- Previous kitchen hand or catering experience preferred (experience with high tea/banquet service an advantage)
- Basic food safety and handling certificate (e.g., Food Handler’s Certificate) preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work afternoons and weekends (typical shifts: 12:00–18:30 or similar)
- Physically fit — able to stand for long periods, lift up to 20kg and work in a fast-paced workplace
- Strong attention to detail, reliable timekeeping and good teamwork/communication skills
- Right to work in [Country]
