ACTIO Recruitment

Darwin

The Larrakia Cultural Centre is looking for a practical, energetic and hands-on Operations Assistant to support the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with the daily running of the Centre.

This is not a desk-based administrative position. We're looking for someone who enjoys being on the floor, getting involved, solving problems and making sure things get done.

You'll work closely with the COO and across the Centre's operations, helping to ensure our facilities, visitor experiences, exhibitions and events run smoothly.

About the Role

No two days will be the same. Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting the COO with the day-to-day operations of the Centre.
- Assisting with opening and closing procedures and ensuring the Centre is ready to welcome visitors.
- Helping coordinate daily activities across visitor services, retail, exhibitions and other operational areas.
- Providing hands-on assistance with event preparation, room and venue setups, exhibitions and functions.
- Liaising with staff, contractors and suppliers to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Monitoring the presentation, cleanliness and general upkeep of the Centre, identifying and reporting maintenance issues.
- Assisting with stock deliveries, storage, equipment and supplies.
- Stepping in to support frontline staff during busy periods and helping resolve day-to-day operational issues.
- Following up on tasks and ensuring work is completed to the required standard.
- Identifying practical ways to improve the visitor experience and day-to-day operations.

About You

We're looking for someone who gets things done without needing to be asked twice.

You'll be someone who

- Is practical, reliable and willing to roll up their sleeves.
- Takes initiative and can identify what needs to be done.
- Is organised and capable of juggling competing priorities.
- Communicates confidently and professionally with staff, visitors and suppliers.
- Has a strong work ethic and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
- Is comfortable working in a busy, public-facing environment.
- Can work independently while being a supportive team member.
- Is flexible, adaptable and willing to assist wherever needed.

Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, events, facilities, venue operations or a similar hands-on environment would be highly regarded. You don't need to have held an Operations Assistant title before. We're more interested in your attitude, reliability and ability to get things done.

Why Join Us?

The Larrakia Cultural Centre celebrates and shares Larrakia culture, history and connection to Country. You'll have the chance to contribute to the ongoing operations of an important cultural destination, working alongside a dedicated team to deliver positive experiences for visitors, artists and the wider community.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys being active, working with people and seeing the results of their efforts every day.

How to Apply

If you're a capable, hands-on all-rounder who takes pride in getting the job done, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants, particularly Larrakia people, are strongly encouraged to apply.
