Civitas Talent is proud to partner with Cochlear on the search for a P&C; Business Partner, Work Design.
Help design how work gets done at Cochlear
As Cochlear evolves, the way it organises work needs to evolve too. This is an opportunity to help Cochlear think differently about how work flows, how teams are organised, where decisions sit, what capabilities are needed and how people and technology can work together.
Cochlear is looking for a P&C; Business Partner, Work Design to join its global Business Partnering team and help turn some of its most complex organisation and workforce challenges into practical, scalable solutions.
This is a role for someone who enjoys getting underneath the surface. Someone who asks not just "what should the role or structure look like?", but "how can we improve the way work flows, clarify accountability and make better use of people and technology?"
What makes this role compelling?
Work and organisation design is about much more than moving boxes on an organisation chart.
In this role, you'll work across P&C; and with business leaders to understand the real challenge, diagnose what's getting in the way and explore different ways of organising work, accountabilities, decision rights, governance, roles, skills and ways of working.
You'll bring together business and workforce evidence, facilitate sometimes complex choices with leaders, and then help translate those choices into designs that can actually be implemented.
And increasingly, you'll help explore an important question: how should work change as human and AI capability come together? The role will contribute to Cochlear's Human-AI work redesign approach, including looking at tasks and workflows, human and technology contributions, role implications and future capability requirements.
What could you find yourself working on?
You might be:
- Working within a priority transformation program to understand the current state and help leaders clarify the problem they're really trying to solve
- Designing an operating model that makes it clearer how value is created, how work flows and where accountability and decisions sit
- Exploring organisation options across structures, layers, spans,
management load and team configuration
- Redesigning roles around future outcomes, capabilities, end-to-end processes and human-technology collaboration
- Facilitating senior leadership teams through difficult design choices and making the trade-offs around value, cost, capability, customer outcomes, risk, speed and scalability visible
- Connecting organisation design decisions with workforce implications including skills, capacity, location, talent and sourcing
- Turning existing organisation and work design approaches into simpler, integrated and scalable tools and methods that others can use
- Coaching P&C; colleagues and building greater organisation and work design capability across Cochlear
Helping move from ideas to action
One of the most important things about this role is that it isn't purely conceptual.
You'll work with leaders and P&C; colleagues through discovery, diagnosis, design and transition, helping make sure that an agreed future-state design can be translated into practical workforce and implementation requirements.
Sometimes that will also mean constructively challenging the solution on the table, particularly when a proposed structural change doesn't address the underlying issue with work, process, accountability or capability.
Who is Cochlear looking for?
You'll probably enjoy this role if complexity makes you curious rather than uncomfortable.
You can step into an ambiguous business problem, ask great questions, make sense of evidence and find the thread that helps others see a way forward.
You'll bring significant experience in areas such as organisation design, operating model design, organisational effectiveness or workforce transformation, together with hands-on experience applying that expertise through complex transformations.
Cochlear is particularly interested in experience:
- Diagnosing and redesigning work, teams, functions, roles, accountabilities, governance and decision rights
- Guiding senior leaders through ambiguous and high-stakes design choices
- Turning design decisions into practical workforce transition and implementation requirements
- Working across multiple stakeholders, disciplines and geographies
- Using business and workforce data to inform organisation decisions
- Operating within a global, matrixed, regulated or product-based organisation
Most importantly, you'll bring curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to challenge constructively, combined with the ability to make complexity understandable and bring people with you.
If you love solving complex organisation problems, enjoy turning ambiguity into something practical and want the opportunity to help shape the future of work at Cochlear, we'd love to hear from you.
